In 1991, TransAdelaide created a national first when it began its Adopt-a-Station program. The program actively combats graffiti and vandalism by giving individuals and community groups the opportunity to 'adopt' their local tram stop or railway station. In fact, we've found that if a train station or tram stop is kept clean and looking attractive, graffiti and vandalism are reduced - not only at the station or stop but on nearby homes, fences and buildings as well.
